Fashionable Hamster
Welcome to Fashionable Hamster; a work in progress about the lives of people connected by a time and a place. Everyone has stories to tell, and each individual story offers insights, interpretation, and an understanding to each story that came before. In stories we hope to communicate our experiences and the knowledge that has come through to us, although any over-riding coherency in the journey will only come out slowly.
Our lives are shaped by the times we live in, the people we know, and the places we call home. Where we were then, where we are now, why we are here, and why we are the way we are. These ideas are what we hope to impart to people willing to go on the journey with us. Sometimes parts of the journey might seem out of place or unnecessary, or totally unrelated to anything that has gone before. But these are the things that make us all individuals. All the mistakes, all the tried and failed schemes, all the things that seemed like good ideas at the time. These are also what make us successful in our own ways. Because we all have a little fashionable hamster as a part of us.

Garwin Burcher
I'm Marci; a woman who thus far has survived my life successfully. I'm a mom, a writer, a cook, and a muck-raking rabblerouser. I'm culturally Jewish and just to steal a phrase from HH the Dalai Lama, "my true religion is kindness." Among other things, I'm an alcoholic and addict in long-term recovery and my journeys to and from those places have been, to say the least, weird and interesting. I have no agenda but to write about what happened, what it was like, and what it's like now - and to share some recipes and food ideas that define those times.
Garwin has worked hard all his life becoming unsuccessful at being an artist, professional musician, comic book historian, author, philosophy major, biblical scholar, and an ordained minister. He’s only succeeded with the minister thing. But since he is a life-long atheist, it doesn’t really matter. Oh, and now he writes a blog.
